The Facts
Fabric: Double Jersey £5 p. metre and 100% cotton
Size: 10 US
Pattern: Bow-Tie Blouse From Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing: A Modern Guide to Couture-Style Sewing Using Basic Vintage Techniques
Year: Vintag-y 50's inspired
Notions: None
Time to complete: Morning muslin and alterations; afternoon sewing. It was ready in time for Great british Bake-off.
Did the pattern turn out like the picture or drawing? Yes. I was uncertain on the side dart and now I'm pleasantly surprised.
Did you make any alterations or modifications? You can see the fit alterations, here. I didn't add buttons on the back because I felt it would be uncomfortable to wear with coats etc... I changed the collar so it doesn't bother me.. it is very tight on the original pattern.
First worn: Sept 2012
Will you make it again? Yes. I would live to make a long sleeve version with peter pan collar.
What did you particularly like or dislike about this pattern: The shape is very sweet.
Did you use new skills or a particular skill: Nope.
Photo shoot camera: Samsung P210 + Gorilla tripod
Conclusion: It's my 2nd vintage /vintage inspired item. I am not particulaly crazy about vintage dressing but I am starting to convert on how feminine and easy to sew the designs are. I can see myself making a few more vintage inspired garments.
