♥ The Red Vavavummm Dress ♥

"When in doubt wear red" Bill Blass

The Facts
Fabric: Woven Jersey
Size:Size 12
Pattern: Front panel M5971 for the sweetheart neckline; back panel vintage dress from SEW magazine (free download) and self drafted pencil skirt.{drafting instructions}

Year: Contemporary
Notions: none
Time to complete: 4 hours

Number of pieces:7 pieces and neck and armband facing.
Did the pattern turn out like the picture or drawing? Yes ,for each the different pattern piece.
Did you make any alterations or modifications? I lower the neckline, added 3 cm to the body length and removing the back dart and  mix and match the patterns.
First worn: 14 Feb 2012
Will you make it again?  I want to make the complete pattern {M5971} in wool with the sleeves and I know then I will face alterations and modifications. That's for winter 2012...
Its time to make summer dresses . PS even when its freezing outside for the photos . LOL
Total price: 1 m of jersey for £8 . Not bad !

What did you particularly like or dislike about this pattern: I liked the neckline but wished it were lower. I cannot comment on the rest.

Did you use new skills or a particular skill: Yes, I used jersey for the 1st time and it turned out fine. I didn't scared me to try again but I think curved seams and too many pattern pieces  was too much for a jersey virgin. I recommend that you use straight seams and as little as possible. If so these dress would have been so quick to make....

Photo shoot camera: Samsung P210 + Tripod

Weather: 8C so only 5 photos instead of the normal 30-40...
:Maroon 5. Moves like Jagger

On Ruth,so you can see some of the seams.

  20. Beautiful dress on you! I was also so impressed with your photos. Would you mind sharing what software you used to make the first black and white photo in which the background looks like a pen and ink drawing and your red dress is the only colour? Many thanks, Dagmar
