"Elegance is the balance between proportion, emotion, and surprise." Valentino
Pattern: Size 12, V8674. Version C
Notions: 5 Buttons , two spools of matching thread and one spool of topstiching thread
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, even better than expected.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Most of it yes. I also used "The encyclopaedia of Sewing Techniques " to add the collar and lining. Collar is tricky!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Yes. I didnt want the pattern to swamp me so I made to finish with an inverted V.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I love this cape and its very fashionable.
Time to complete: 10 hours
Wear again? Yes and again and again. Warm and very Chic.
Total Cost : Used 3.5 metres - £30 metre + free lining (I know, MAD... )
Review: Capes are so fashionable right now and this pattern provide a fun modern with a vintage twist. What can I say more. Its a perfect balance from a new pattern to a old school elegance.

I have the same pattern and the same fabric and had the same idea-until I realised that I didn't have quite enough of this lovely fabric to carry off my idea. It looks lovely. Weep that I can't have too.
ReplyDeleteI've not jumped on the cape bandwagon, but yours could change my mind...love this version!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS CAPE. This may be my favourite thing you've sewn...it's just absolutely stunning and the fabric is so worth it. It looks so soft. Great job on the collar. This is also my favourite kind of cape (button-up vest with cape sides and big collar). It reminds me of the 1935 cape I made! Ok, now I want to make another cape :)
